Step-by-step user journey

Step 1 — Open the preorder product

• Open a product using the preorder template

Step 2 — Check the availability messaging

1. The inventory and sales point text explains the preorder timeline
2. Check the price and select a variant
3. Size chart (if the block is on) follows the same metafield / page / hide-collections rules as the default product page

Step 3 — Place the preorder (add to cart)

1. Add to cart (the button label can be customised by the merchant or theme)
2. Cart drawer → checkout
3. The Shopify order acts as the preorder commitment; fulfilment rules are set by the merchant

Merchant tips

1. State the inventory or policy clearly, including the ship date
2. Set the buy button label to "Pre-order" in the Theme Editor or via an app if needed
3. Confirm the payment capture policy in the Shopify admin
